Oil hits US$70 a barrel

Global oil prices have topped US$70 a barrel for the first time in three years as rising demand eats away at a surplus of the commodity.

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) cutting their production rates also led to the Brent crude rising as much as 1.2 per cent to its highest level since December 2014.
